Laptops

The main advantage of the laptop computers is portability. They are easy to carry and deposit. The idea was to take your computer and use it to work or have fun everywhere you like.

The problem with the laptops is the battery life. For a normal laptop the battery is enough for 30-45 minutes of operating. The solution is to have multiple batteries or to use the laptop indoor and connect it to a power supply.

Having multiple batteries is not a solution because they are heavy and add extra weight, so you can use the laptop outdoor for too long unless you have a generator or something similar

Another advantage is the compact size. You can use a laptop in a office and still have room for the rest of your stuff (paper, pens, contracts, invoices and so on).

Cons

• they don’t have as much power as a desktop
• the battery life is short

Desktops

There are several advantages to have a desktop computer. The main is power. Desktops are way more powerful like laptops or mini computers.

The second advantage (between desktops and laptops): you can use huge monitors like 24 inch ones (I have seen some 40 inch LCD’s - just in pictures for now). To have this display of a laptop will be so big the laptop will be extremely heavy.

Another advantage: the powerful graphic cards. You will have the best game playing experience on a desktop.

The disadvantages for desktops are the big size and the lack of portability.

• hard to carry them
• you need a lot of space

Mini desktops (mini computers)

The mini computer has 2 major advantages: it looks very good and has a compact size.

Also mini computers usually use parts recycled form laptops and desktops so they are eco friendly.

Pros

• chic
• small
• environmentally friendly

Cons

• not as powerful as desktops and laptops
• they are not portable

Conclusion

One of the most important trend in our day is miniaturization so on the long run the mini computers and the laptops have their chance to replace the desktops. Desktops fan do not despair as long as desktops will have the power and speed advantages will still be in store.
